Senior Lead Pastor

Pastor Jim & Anna Kedge
In September of 2021, Jim Kedge started co-pastoring with Pastor Rick Gay at Summerland Alliance Church. He has been a pastor with the Christian and Missionary Alliance in Canada for 15 years, leading youth and young adults ministries in Kamloops, BC and Moose Jaw, SK, and most recently serving as a Lead Pastor in Estevan, SK.
For the three years before coming on staff at SAC, Jim has lived in the Okanagan Valley with his wife, Anna, and their two daughters, Molly and Natalie. While stepping into the role of primary caregiver at home, Jim has also worked as a freelance writer and group home support worker. He has helped with music ministries, small group formation and leadership, and preaching at various churches in the valley. Jim filled the pulpit for Rick while he was on sabbatical in 2019.
In terms of ministry, Jim has a passion for music, preaching, people, and discipleship. He loves to sit down with a good book and a fresh Americano, or to meet with someone to listen to their story and discuss where God is at work in their lives. Jim is a big supporter of intentionally deep and honest small groups and enjoys any opportunity to talk about ideas and theology, especially where our understanding of God and the Bible intersects with our lives in our culture.
Jim works at Summerland Alliance part-time and has a focus on music, preaching, small groups and discipleship methods, equipping and empowering current and future leaders, and providing care and support for the people in the church. He is also working towards his Master of Arts in Spiritual Formation through Carey Theological College.
Jim feels like he spends too much of his free time paying attention to NBA basketball games, stats, and stories. He also likes to make delicious food for his family, explore the woods in the Okanagan Valley, go for a long run in as many beautiful places as he can, go camping with his family, and enjoy exciting and compelling books and movies. He’s also always on the lookout for his next great comedy or theology podcast!
Lead Pastor Associate

Pastor Rick and Jan Gay
I was born in Seattle, Washington and spent the first 18 years of my life living in Washington State. Sports were a big part of my life and I excelled in basketball. My father loved taking holidays in Canada and Canada became a second home for me.
Upon graduation from high school, I left home for Regina, Saskatchewan where I enrolled at Canadian Bible College. My wife, Jan was born in Ottawa, Ontario and grew up in Nyack, New York. Skiing, swimming, hiking, biking, jogging and walks were a part of her growing up days. Both Jan and I enjoy the outdoors. The picture of us was taken while we were sea kayaking near Powell River, BC. We are blessed to live in such a beautiful part of the world!
While living and studying in New York, Jan became a Registered Nurse. She also left home for Canadian Bible College where we met in 1976 (It’s a great God story!).Upon graduation from Canadian Bible College in April of 1978, we were married two months later at Simpson Memorial Church in Nyack, New York. Only 5 weeks later (including one week for a honeymoon in Bermuda), we found ourselves pastoring in our first church in Morden, Manitoba!
God has blessed us with three wonderful children who are all grown up and married. One son and his wife live in in Lake Country (Winfield) with their 2 boys. Our second son and his wife live here in Summerland with their daughter and son. Our daughter and her husband live in Calgary with two boys. That means we are blessed with six wonderful and amazing grand-children. We treasure the moments we have with family and are grateful for these gifts God has given to us.
My call to ministry has led us to a number of places (all in Canada) where we have made good friends and met many wonderful people. We feel so blessed to call Summerland home and to be part of an amazing church family (if you have not met them you should; they are truly terrific people who love to serve God locally and globally!).
I have always felt a strong connection to ministering in communities where God has called us. Summerland is no exception. I serve as chaplain for the Summerland Steam (a Jr. B hockey team in the KIJHL) and I have been the chaplain for our local RCMP detachment. I feel extremely blessed to be associated with both of these organizations. One final note is that we love to ride our motorcycle. There is a group of Christian Motorcyclist Association members at Summerland Alliance known as the Southern Interior Christian Riders (you can find them and their activities on Facebook). They are an active group of riders who love to “Ride For The Son.” Let us know if you want to ride sometime. We would love to have you drop in and worship with us, we know you will feel welcome and at home here!God bless you!
We look forward to meeting you,
Pastor Rick and Jan
Office Administrator: Judy Rempel
Judy Rempel and her husband, Lee, moved to Summerland in 2016 from Edmonton. As they had previously lived in Penticton, they were familiar with SAC and made it their church home as they settled again in the area.
As Office Administrator, Judy brings experience and knowledge of church ministry and culture from positions she held on staff in both Penticton Alliance and Beverly Alliance churches, and also from serving on a church planting team in the Philippines. Her office skills come from previous work as an Administrative Assistant in a Christian School, a bank, and a lawyer’s office. In her spare time, Judy likes to sing, play ukulele, read, solve sodukos and cryptic crosswords, make cards, and help Lee identify birds. Judy and Lee have two grown children.
